How do I hydrate my pet?
With the high summer temperatures, our four-legged friends can suffer from the summer. Here are some tips to help them better cope with this period:
For their food
- Renew their water bowl regularly, especially in summer, to keep it fresh. You can add ice cubes, but in moderation, because some animals do not like ice water.
- Include fresh vegetables in their diet to hydrate them, and favor wet food like pâté, which contains a lot of water.
- Offer your dog homemade frozen treats to cool him down and make him happy. Simple recipes are available on our Instagram account.
For walks
- Avoid going out during the hottest hours of the day. Instead, go for walks in the morning or at the end of the day, when it is cooler and there is more shade.
- Choose shaded areas to protect your pet from the sun.
For their physical well-being
- Moisten them with a damp glove, paying particular attention to sensitive areas such as the neck, stomach and pads.
- Provide them with cooling mats or coats, or place a damp towel on the floor.
- Brush them regularly to remove dead hair and help regulate their body temperature.
- If possible, hose your dog down or use a water fountain to cool him down.
For their environment
- Use air conditioning or a fan to keep the home at a comfortable temperature. Make sure they have access to cool rooms during the day and night.
- Never leave your pets in the car in hot weather, this can be extremely dangerous, even fatal.
By following these tips, you can help your pet better cope with the intense summer heat and stay healthy.
